The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art recognise and promote excellence in senior visual art education throughout Queensland state and non-state schools.

Submissions for the 2013 Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art have been judged with 40 excellence recipients named.

Since 1990, the program has helped raise community awareness of the degree of sophistication in concepts, diversity of technical competence, and the high standard of visual art education in Queensland secondary schools.

The program comprises of:

  • the submission and judging of three digital photographs of student art work and supporting information

  • regional exhibitions showcasing submitted works

  • regional workshops for selected students

  • an exhibition of awarded works at the Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane.

Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the exhibition, however, I was notified that I had received the Gold Coast Encouragement Award for my work, "Vereor: to respect, fear and dread" and I had won $250 worth of art supplies as well as an additional $250 to the art department at school. I was very shocked and so so happy when I saw that I had received this award. It is definately a huge accomplishment for myself and I hope to only get better in my art makng skills.
